3/ first, SOME efforts to influence political outcomes in foreign countries are lawful, sure -- but secret electoral manipulation violates both US law and international law; and

4/ second, 2)there is a yuuuge difference between pressuring foreign govts to act in the nation’s interest, vs pressuring foreign govts do things solely for personal or partisan reasons– such as digging up dirt on an electoral rival

5/ Yes, the US routinely puts pressure on foreign governments to act in ways that are consistent with US policy.

6/ People may or may not agree with particular foreign policy goals, but it is normal foreign policy for the US president to urge other states to respect human rights, contribute more to NATO, join a trade agreement, etc.
